Day 33

Cabin Sushi

I made this sushi with my friends Gretchen and Anna, at a cabin up in northern MN, It was a great contrast eating delicate sushi in a rustic ambiance.

Although sushi looks intimidating to make, it is quite easy, however can be very messy.

Start by making the rice:cook rice and then transfer to cool in a larger container, sprinkle with vinegar and sugar combined.
  • 3 cups Japanese rice
  • 3 1/4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar combined with 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
You will need a bambook mat to roll the nori and rice in. Lay out nori shiny side down, place rice and spread on nori, fill with your favorite ingredients, we used, fresh tuna, mangoes, avocado, cucumbers and cream cheese, in all different variations. Roll in bamboo matt tightly and slice rolls with a sharp or ceraded knife.
